Must-Have Accessories and Gear for Full-Time RV Living
When we moved into our RV full time, we knew we’d need some things, but we didn’t know quite how many. Today, we’ll share the items that we found the most useful when we started living in our RV full time.
The DeWalt cordless drill
If you live in an RV, you’ll need to learn how to repair things. We have repaired, replaced, and fixed virtually everything in our 5th wheel. As such, my favorite purchase for our RV has been the DeWalt cordless drill. I’ve used it more times than I can count, and it’s great. You don’t necessarily need to buy this brand; any battery-powered drill will do.
Hooks for functional décor
Living in a tiny place means you must utilize every bit of space you have.
That’s why hooks were our best friend during the renovation process. Since the RV is our home, we wanted aesthetically pleasing things. These beautiful rustic black hooks are Leila’s favorite, and they’re affordable too!
Invest in a tire pressure monitoring system
Just as we did when we first got into RVing full time, you might overlook your tires. They are very crucial for a successful and happy RV lifestyle. So, you need to monitor your tire pressure regularly. We got this tire pressure monitor, and it’s been nothing short of excellent. A tire monitor will warn you if the pressure is too high, which will help you avoid tire blowouts.
Organizing systems
Being in a small space is about keeping everything in its place. That’s why we love all our organizing systems, from OXO containers, drawer organizers, baskets, basket labels, to bamboo dividers that we use daily.
A heated hose
We were wildly unprepared for the struggles of winter RVing. One winter adventure in Colorado left us with frozen pipes, meaning we had no water. We realized the need for a heated hose at that point. A heated hose is a bit pricey, but it’ll come in handy during such times.
Space heaters
If you’re hooked up to a 50-amp, you’re going to burn through propane quickly. So, you want to get a couple of space heaters, as we did. They work great alongside our fireplace during winter.
Updated Lights
Ever noticed the ugly puck lights that come with all RVs? You can update them! We got our lighting upgrade from Amazon. They’re 12 Volt Edison light bulbs, and they look fantastic.
Magnetic Doorstops
When your RV is moving, the doors tend to rattle. We bought magnetic doorstops that are easy to install. They stay put even when we’re travelling, so the doors don’t swing back and forth.
Heat-distributing cookware
Cooking in an RV can be a challenge. Everything is tiny. You’re using propane, which burns hotter than natural gas. So, things don’t always cook evenly.
I found a frying pan that distributes heat evenly, and you don’t even need oil to cook eggs!
Turkish towels
We discovered that big terry towels took up too much space. Again, tiny home problems!
The perfect solution was swapping these for Turkish towels. Not only do they take up less space, but they dry a lot faster. And we can easily hang them on our bathroom hooks.
A washer-dryer set
One of our best purchases was the stackable washer and dryer from Splendide. If you live in an RV full time, you’ll want this washer-dryer combo for comfortable everyday living. An all-in-one will make your clothes wrinkly, so you want to go for the pair, even though it may be smaller.
Square-headed screws
Your entire RV is held together by square-headed screws. You can find these on Amazon for about $25 for a pack of 100 screws. With the amount of work we’ve done on the RV, we’re on our fifth pack now.
